Terms

Last updated 17 August 2026

Two different things are sold here: websites built for businesses, and a course you download. The terms for each are set out separately below.

Who we are

WEBDORK is a web design studio based in Edinburgh, run by Chris and Arran. Contact: hello@webdork.co.uk.

We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on anything below.

Website design work

Quotes and payment

Builds start from £1,200. We quote in writing after seeing your business, and the quote holds for 30 days. Unless we agree otherwise, half is payable before we start and the balance on the day the site goes live.

What you own

You own your website and your domain outright. Once the final invoice is paid, the design, the code and the content are yours. If you ever leave, we hand over the files and transfer the domain, and we do not charge for doing it. We ask only that we can show the work in our portfolio, and if you would rather we did not, say so and we will not.

Anything you give us, such as photographs, logos and copy, stays yours. By giving it to us you confirm you have the right to use it.

The monthly care plan

Ongoing care starts from £150 a month and covers hosting, the domain, security and backups, and content changes. It is monthly and you can cancel any time with 30 days' notice. There is no minimum term and no exit fee. If you cancel, your site and domain come with you.

The plan covers changes to existing content. New pages, new features and redesigns are quoted separately, and we will always tell you before doing chargeable work rather than after.

Timescales

Most builds take two to three weeks from the first visit, but that depends on how quickly content comes back to us. We will tell you honestly if something is running late.

The course

What you are buying

"Build Your First Website" is £89, paid once. You get sixteen lessons as a folder of files you download and keep, along with the project source files. There is no subscription, no account and no expiry. Revised lessons are free.

Licence

The course is for your own use. You are welcome to use everything you learn on your own sites and on sites you build for other people. You may not resell, share or republish the course files themselves.

Refunds

The course is digital content delivered immediately. Under UK consumer law you normally have 14 days to change your mind about an online purchase, but that right does not apply once you have started the download and acknowledged at checkout that you are giving it up. That acknowledgement is part of the Payhip checkout.

That said, we would rather have a happy customer than £89. If the course is not what you expected, email us within 14 days and tell us why, and we will refund you.

If something is faulty, broken or not as described, your statutory rights apply in full and nothing here affects them.

Things that apply to both

What we are responsible for

We do the work carefully and to a professional standard. We cannot promise a website will produce a particular number of enquiries, a particular position in Google, or a particular amount of revenue, and we do not make those promises anywhere.

We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or indirect losses. Where we are liable, that liability is limited to the amount you have paid us for the work in question. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, because the law does not allow that to be limited.

Third-party services

Some things sit outside our control: your hosting provider, your domain registrar, Payhip, Stripe, and any platform your site depends on. We will help you deal with them, but we cannot be responsible for their outages or their decisions.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to you is the one published when you bought. The date at the top tells you when this page last changed.

Something here unclear or unfair? Email hello@webdork.co.uk and we will explain it in plain words or change it.
